InsiderNote
A creator platform built for Myanmar. Writers, teachers and consultants publish text, images, video and audio, choose who can see each post, and earn through point-based subscriptions — on iOS, Android and the web.

01 — Context
One place for creators to publish — and be paid for it
InsiderNote gives Myanmar creators a home of their own rather than a page on someone else’s network. A creator posts text, images, video or audio, decides whether it is public, private, or early access for subscribers, and readers follow, save and comment. Subscriptions are bought with points inside the app, which keeps paid content workable in a market where card payments are not the norm.

02 — Problem
Able to publish anywhere, able to get paid nowhere
A Myanmar creator with an audience has no shortage of places to post. What they do not have is a way to charge for any of it. The global membership platforms all settle through the same two payment companies, and neither one operates in the country.
The payout wall
Patreon, Substack, Ko-fi and Buy Me a Coffee all pay creators through Stripe or PayPal. Stripe does not list Myanmar among its supported countries and PayPal does not operate there, so the standard membership stack cannot pay a Yangon-based creator at all.
A rented audience
The work lives on Facebook and Telegram, where reach is decided by a ranking system and a page can be lost overnight. Followers built up over years are not portable.
Free, or not published
Outside those platforms a post is either fully public or it does not exist. There is no way to give paying readers a piece first and open it up to everyone later.
03 — Goals
What the platform had to do
Five goals, set against the problem above. Each one is visible in the shipped product.
01
Make paying possible without a card
Price access in points bought inside the app, so a reader never needs an international card and a creator never needs a Stripe account.
02
Give creators something they own
A profile, a catalogue and a follower list that belong to the creator and travel with them, not to a page that can disappear.
03
One decision per post
Public, private, or early access — chosen when publishing and changeable afterwards, without republishing.
04
The same product on every screen
iOS, Android and web on one account, one catalogue and one point balance, so nothing is a second-class client.
05
Burmese first, not Burmese-compatible
Type scale, line height and layout chosen for Burmese script, with Latin sitting inside it rather than the other way round.
04 — Constraints
What the design had to work around
No international rails
No Stripe, no PayPal, no global card acquiring. Anything resembling a checkout had to be built on top of a balance held inside the product.
Two scripts, one paragraph
Burmese and Latin sit in the same sentence with different vertical metrics. Line height set for one breaks the other, so the scale had to hold both.
Mid-range Android, uneven data
Most of the audience is on mid-tier Android over mobile data. Media had to stay optional and lists had to stay cheap to render.
Habits formed on Facebook
Almost every user arrives fluent in one interface. Navigation that argued with that would have cost adoption, so the familiar pattern was kept deliberately.
05 — Research
What the market actually looks like
Desk research across platform fee and payout documentation, the two app store listings, and published figures on Myanmar’s internet and payments landscape. The numbers below set the size of the audience and the shape of the constraint.

Where InsiderNote lands
Points are bought inside the app through rails that already work locally, so no card and no Stripe account is involved on either side. The creator keeps a profile and a follower list that are theirs, and sets visibility per post rather than per account. It is the only one of the six that answers yes to the question above.
07 — Insights
Three things that shaped the build
01
Payment is the product, not a settings screen
Once you accept that no card will ever be entered, the whole model changes. Points stop being a gimmick and become the only workable unit, which is why pricing reads as points per month and why top-up sits on the profile rather than buried in settings.
02
Early access beats a hard paywall
A locked post is worth nothing to a creator whose reach depends on being read. Releasing to subscribers first and opening up later keeps both the incentive to subscribe and the reach that makes subscribing worth it.
03
Familiar beats novel
The audience learned social media on one interface. Keeping a bottom tab bar, a Following / For You split and a recognisable post card meant the only new thing to learn was the part that is genuinely new — visibility and points.
08 — Information architecture
Five tabs on the phone, nine sections on the web
The same content model, surfaced two ways. The phone leans on a bottom tab bar; the web opens the whole structure out into a sidebar, because there is room for it.
Mobile app
Five tabs, everything reachable in two taps.

09 — Feature set
The pieces a creator actually needs
Everything below is in the shipped product, on all three platforms. The set is deliberately small: publish, control who sees it, get paid, and let readers keep what they liked.
Two feeds
Following carries the creators you already subscribe to. For You surfaces the wider catalogue, so a new creator is discoverable on day one instead of starting at zero.
Visibility per post
Each post is public, private, or early access. A creator can release to subscribers first and open it up later, without republishing it.
Point subscriptions
Subscribing to a creator costs points bought inside the app. Pricing reads as points per month, so paid content works without a card on file.
Collections
Creators group related posts into named collections, and readers save anything into their own library to come back to.
Creator profiles
A profile carries the creator’s title, post count, followers and love count, with Contents, Collections and About as tabs.
Comments and community
Threaded comments sit under every post, with replies, so discussion stays attached to the thing it is about.
10 — Design system
A semantic token set, not a list of colours
Colour is defined once as a role — Background, Content or Border — and every role carries a light value and an inverse. Switching theme swaps one layer, so no screen holds a hard-coded hex. Brand, neutral and status ramps sit underneath as the raw material.

Doing a little and getting a lot is not only about trying harder. Leverage is what makes the difference, and leverage comes down to five things — the first is timing.

How to think. Do not assign blame, look for the answer. Do not pity yourself. Understand the problem you are solving before you reach for a fix.
